Marshall Sykes

Co-founder, Managing Partner

Marshall is a real estate investor at heart, having grown up in a real estate development and investing family. He has 30 years of construction project management and asset management experience with careers in the Navy Civil Engineer Corps and at ExxonMobil.  He is a retired Navy Captain, having served 24 years in the military.  While stationed at Camp Pendleton, Marshall led a team in planning and designing $1 Billion in new multifamily (barracks) facilities as well as upgrading existing properties, managing over 10,000 units and developing the gold standard “Best of Breed” for multifamily housing residences that created significant improvements to living quarters and recreational amenities.

He and his wife, Cindy, have owned single family rental properties for over 20 years but have switched their real estate investing strategy over the past few years to focus on multifamily properties where they can quickly scale their investment portfolio and improve their returns. They are now partners in over 3000 apartment units.

Although Marshall has been interested in owning apartments for over 15 years, he did not initially understand that large multifamily properties were available for individuals to invest in through syndications. That’s why he is excited to share these multifamily investment opportunities with you.

Cindy Sykes

Co-founder

Cindy is an accidental real estate investor.  Having degrees in both Chemistry and Biology, her career initially focused on research, then shifted to quality assurance. She enjoyed her work, but after she married Marshall and became a Navy wife, Cindy realized that she needed a career that would be mobile, that she could pack up with the rest of their household when they were sent to a new duty station. A career that would create that second stream of income to feed into their retirement goals of multiple sources of income. A new career, a family career. This new career needed to be something that Marshall could share, that had a stable support system, and that was interesting and engaging. The answer was investing in single family housing. Marshall was the perfect mentor with his experience in construction, and together, they built their first single family house. They continued to build more houses, and Cindy was able to work with local property managers to oversee the rental properties.

Cindy balanced managing single family real estate holdings with running her household. The flexibility of working from home was the perfect complement to Marshall’s very high tempo job in the Navy. Excel spreadsheets covered the top of her desk while train tracks and Barbie cars ran under her desk. Real estate gave her the flexible schedule she needed.

Cindy continues to work out of her home office while managing her household, although there are no longer toys under her desk. The kids still pop in and out of the office, but now they are helping with website content and IT support. By including the children early in her business life, Cindy planted the seeds of real estate investing, looking for it to grow with the next generation. Real estate investing has truly become a family business.
